August 25, 2008, Seattle, WA-- America’s Opportunity Fund
has just celebrated its first birthday. Your continued
support for the past twelve months has given us the
resources to fulfill our mission in so many ways, and for
that we are grateful. We remain committed to our goal of
supporting candidates and communities of color who want a
better America for all.
Seattle, WA, May 1, 2008 -- Campaigning in California, New
York City and Washington, DC, former Washington State
Governor Gary Locke and former Cabinet Secretary Norman
Mineta completed their successful bi-coastal tour in
promoting their PAC, America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF).
Seattle…… On November 30th, dozens of prominent
community, political, and business leaders gathered in
Seattle to hear AOF Co-Chairs, former Governor Gary Locke,
and former Cabinet Secretary Norm Mineta, speak of their
personal passion to ensure that people and communities of
color are represented in government. Governor Locke and
Secretary Mineta stressed the importance of providing fair
access to government services, and equal representation at
the federal and state-wide level.
Two of the most prominent Asian American politicians ever,
former Gov. Gary Locke and former Secretary of
Transportation Norm Mineta, have established a new political
action committee, America’s Opportunity Fund, to help
Asian American politicians succeed at the state and federal
levels. On Nov. 30, the two spoke to a group of more than 70
local political, business and community members at a
luncheon held at the Washington Athletic Club in downtown
Seattle.
**America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) will be conducting a
Candidates Training which will educate leaders who are
thinking of running for elected office and or those who are
ready to run for the next level.
America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) and the South Bay Labor
Council will be hosting a “Get out the Vote” (GOTV)
Training which will educate operatives and activists in the
strategy and tactics necessary for a successful Election
Day.
