Co-chairs, Locke and Mineta’s Political Action Committee (PAC)
gathers additional support on East Coast
New York City, NY – February 29, 2008 -- After a successful visit in California, former Washington State Governor Gary Locke and former Cabinet Secretary Norm Mineta, travel to New York City and Washington, DC to harness additional support for their PAC, America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF).
A luncheon to be hosted by Councilman John Liu, Chung Seto and others will be held in New York’s Chinatown district on March 5th to help raise awareness and funds for the newly created PAC, America’s Opportunity Fund.
Since its inception in July 2007, America’s Opportunity Fund has been met with overwhelming support across the nation. "We are striving to make a significant difference in the outcome of key races across the nation in 2008," said Governor Locke.
With the help of Congressman Mike Honda, America’s Opportunity Fund has supported get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts in Nevada and Texas. "During the Nevada Caucus in January, we were able to successfully increase the Asian American and Pacific Islander turnout by 30%," stated Mineta. "And to continue this effort, we are supporting GOTV programs to the Asian American Democrats in Texas leading up to the March 4th Primary." After their brief visit to New York City, Locke and Mineta traveled to Washington, DC the following day to host another luncheon.
