Seattle…… On November 30th, dozens of prominent community, political, and business leaders gathered in Seattle to hear AOF Co-Chairs, former Governor Gary Locke, and former Cabinet Secretary Norm Mineta, speak of their personal passion to ensure that people and communities of color are represented in government. Governor Locke and Secretary Mineta stressed the importance of providing fair access to government services, and equal representation at the federal and state-wide level.
Since its inception in July 2007, America’s Opportunity Fund (AOF) has been met with overwhelming support across the nation. “We are striving to make a significant difference in the outcome of key races across the nation in 2008,” said Governor Locke. America’s Opportunity Fund would like to thank those who came to our November 30th Seattle event, as well as all our supporters from across the country, for helping to launch this important organization. It is only with your support that we can achieve what is right for America,” added Secretary Mineta. Governor Locke and Secretary Mineta have plans to travel the country in 2008, and speak to the issues that impact minority communities, and advocate for further support of AOF.
